Resumen:
This work is a reflection on the teaching of e!ementary school, focusing, as reading is being worked on in the classroom since the present reality finds students entering the next series with serious problems in leaming school, on account of poor literacy. ln this work I will have as a guide the following specific objectives; observe how students relate to reading in the classroom, identify weaknesses in students about reading and writing; characterize the methodology used by the teacher. Ki1owing the role of reading constitutes the constmction of both knowledge as well as skills that enable students to engage in a participatory your citizenship, reading is considered an essential too! in the leaming process. Leaming to read should be an act of continuation of life, that such activity aims to get individuais to internet with the world in a more creative, conscious and able to rewrite the world, transforming them through constant practice. The methodology used was the literature research and field research, in which a collection was made for data, interviewing five teachers and ten students of their teachers from three schools in mral and urban area of Bernardino Batista. This research had the results: students appear, in most cases, a good re!ationship with reading in the classroom, like to hear the stories and read, to answer the questions, we identified some difficu!ties in reading and writing, but teachers are working these difficulties, through diverse methods.
