Résumé:
Literacy, more broadly, has been a question much discussed, especially by education
professionals, by observing a great difficulty in the initial acquisition of reading and writing
by the students in the first years of elementary school. This process has received special
attention, mainly because it is part of the view that the acquisition of reading and writing is
not just about learning the language, but the importance of the entire socio-cultural, historical
and economic, in which the individual belongs. Thus, the proposed study aims at analyzing
the process of reading and writing in the early years of elementary school and specific
objectives determine which methodologies and teaching resources teachers use to teach
literacy students, identify students' difficulties and teachers in teaching and learning;
understand how schools and teachers try to remedy such difficulties; map the training of
teachers to work in the teaching process. This research is characterized as a field study,
because the researcher assumes the role of observer and explorer, collecting information
directly provided by teachers working in their respective classrooms. The instruments of data
collection were: classroom observation and an interview with the teacher who teaches in Year
1 of the Elementary School I. These tools have enabled a greater understanding of how
teachers develop the process of reading and writing to students of the early years of
elementary school. This study made it possible to draw some conclusions. First reinforced the
view that the process of reading and writing is very complex and requires more commitment
of both teacher and student, since the process will involve literacy of students in student life I
also realized that some teachers teach in the early years most still do not seek a suitable
qualification, which hampers can start the process of teaching reading and writing, among
other difficulties. Given this fact, concludes that there are various barriers that interfere with
the learning process of students.
