Abstract

This work analyzes the relationship between art and social movements, with a focus on the Landless Workers’ Movement (MST). The research aims to understand how artistic expressions contribute to ideological formation, awareness, and political mobilization of rural workers. Based on bibliographic and documentary research, the study examines songs, posters, films, photos, and other cultural manifestations produced within the MST context. The analysis highlights the role of art as an instrument of cultural and political resistance, capable of breaking historical silences, denouncing the contradictions of capitalist society, and strengthening the collectivity of those engaged in struggle. The investigation also addresses the criminalization of the movement's artistic expressions, reflecting on the impacts of media and institutional stereotyping. It is concluded that art, within the context of the MST, emerges as a transformative and pedagogical praxis that enhances popular protagonism and reaffirms the struggle for agrarian reform as an ongoing construction of social justice.
