Práticas integrativas e complementares grupais na promoção de saúde mental em um presídio feminino.

Abstract

The present study aims to analyze the repercussions of Integrative and Complementary Group Practices applied to re-educated women at the Regional Women's Penitentiary of the Serrotão Penitentiary Complex. This is a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach. Women who participated in the extension activities of a project linked to the Extension Scholarship Program of the Federal University of Campina Grande were included in the study. Data collection was guided by the semi-directed interview strategy. The course of the planned steps that include the content analysis proposed by Bardin, were associated with the use of IRaMuTeQ. In the present study, 9 re-educated women made up the final corpus of the sample. The results showed that prison causes several effects on the lives of those re-educated, such as loss of identity and mental health problems. Structural sexism in the prison system generates gender inequalities, discrimination, abandonment and violence, affecting women's mental health. Coping mechanisms such as faith, reading and education were essential for resocialization. It is concluded that it is crucial to implement specific health policies and ensure the execution of existing policies. Furthermore, there is an urgent need for trained health professionals to meet the specific needs of women deprived of their liberty, with an emphasis on the application and promotion of Group Integrative and Complementary Practices in the Unified Health System
