Análise da atividade e do sentido do trabalho na área bancária.

Abstract

This article seeks to analyze the perception of banking sector workers regarding the meaning of work in the development of professional activities within their respective organizations. Its objective was to examine work activities and the dimensions of the meaning of work, aiming to contribute to the discussion of the relationship between health and illness among bank employees. The proposed methodology was a qualitative study, carried out through semi-structured interviews with five workers from different bank branches in the city of Campina Grande-PB. The evaluated dimensions were work organization and management, experiences of pleasure and suffering at work, working conditions, meaning and significance of work, and recognition at work. The results of this article show that workers face real difficulties with recognition and the meaning of work, reflecting how working in a bank affects their mental health. Most employees reported constant pressure to meet targets, which causes stress and demands high performance and accountability. Furthermore, fear of robberies and obstacles in customer service were identified as the most challenging factors of banking activities, leading to emotional and mental strain. The lack of recognition in the workplace and the impacts of work on personal life were also mentioned, highlighting how work organization and management can affect the satisfaction and well-being of these professionals.
