Linguística histórica, ensino de língua portuguesa e de língua espanhola: contribuições para a formação e prática docente na educação básica.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the history of the Romance languages, especially Portuguese and Spanish, from a diachronic and comparative perspective. We highlight the relevance of Historical Linguistics for language teaching, using a bibliographic and qualitative approach, based on theorists such as Elia (1979) and Ilari (1999). Initially, we contextualize the evolution of language, from myths about its origin to the historical-comparative method of Bopp and Diez. Then, we explore the expansion of Latin in the Iberian Peninsula and the formation of Portuguese and Spanish. Afterwards, we propose a teaching method for Portuguese as a mother tongue and Spanish as a second language, based on linguistic comparison and the recovery of Latin as a pedagogical tool, starting from the problem that the teaching of these languages often does not include this diachronic knowledge.
