Análise da qualidade do preenchimento de fichas de biópsias em um serviço de histopatologia oral.

Abstract

It is essential that the dental professional knows and applies in practice his acquired knowledge about identifying lesions, performing a biopsy, adequately filling out the anatomopathological examination form, appropriate conditioning of the biological material, sending the request form and the piece, and lastly, the interpretation of the reports prepared by pathologists. Thus, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality of filling out biopsy referral forms from the Oral Histopathology Service of the Universidade Federal de Campina Grande (SHO-UFCG), between the years 2016 and 2022. This work is characterized as longitudinal, descriptive, quantitative, documentary and retrospective. In it, all variables present in the biopsy form made available by the faculty were evaluated, with analysis carried out using fields of knowledge already established in the form in question. In view of this, the results were the collection and evaluation of 701 files, revealing a worrying percentage of missing information, as well as the mapping of 32 cities, located in neighboring municipalities and also in different states. Furthermore, we observed that the public sector is responsible for the largest number of requests for histopathological analysis, and also presented better fulfillment than the private service. Therefore, this research demonstrates that SHO-UFCG has a wide scope of its service, but that the high percentage of incomplete completion makes the diagnosis process and the return of these reports to professionals difficult.
