Implicações da implementação do modelo Escola Cidadã Integral Técnica na Instituição do Presidente Kennedy – Santana de Mangueira – PB, 2019-2023.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the educational model of the Paraíba state’s ‘Escolas Cidadãs Integrais’ (ECITs), focusing on the pedagogical practices implemented at ECIT Presidente Kennedy. It seeks to understand the implications of this model’s adoption for the school environment and its constituents by critically examining the concepts underlying the program, the objectives of its diversified curriculum, and other pedagogical strategies. The physical structure of the institution is also considered in order to assess how these elements reflect the educational purpose of the program. The theoretical framework draws primarily on the works of Durkheim (2012), Gadotti (1994), Althusser (1992), and Freire (1967) to explore how the role of education evolves in response to historical and social demands. Additionally, the study incorporates the perspectives of Christian Laval and Pierre Dardot (2016), as well as Laval (2019), to investigate how neoliberal rationality permeates contemporary institutions, including schools, and how political ideology manifests within the ECIT educational context. Methodologically, the research adopts a qualitative approach, based on interviews conducted with members of the ECIT Presidente Kennedy community. These interviews are analyzed through the lens of Paulilo (1999), Santos et al. (2012), Alvarenga (2012), Alberti (2004), and Triviños (1987) to understand how the implementation of this educational model has impacted the school’s daily life, revealing tensions, reinterpretations, and challenges in the pursuit of a socially committed educational experience.
