Abstract

The objective of this work is to report the experience as a student, in the planning and implementation of health education actions aimed at pregnant women in primary health care. This is a qualitative, descriptive study, of the Experience Report type, carried out in a Basic Health Unit. The implementation of the actions took place during the Supervised Internship of a Nursing course, between March and July 2023. The target audience were pregnant women, who regardless of gestational age were undergoing prenatal care at the UBS. To carry out the activities, we sought to work on themes allocated on different days, to facilitate the dynamic participation of the group. The themes were: Food and lifestyle habits during pregnancy; Childbirth and Postpartum; Breastfeeding management; and Newborn care. Based on the analysis of the pregnant women's speeches, four categories were created: Persistent doubts: And now, what should I do? Breastfeeding Myths and Truths; Obstetric violence and the vulnerability of being pregnant; Health education and its weaknesses. Among the speeches, the importance of inserting the student in the implementation of educational actions was highlighted, due to the professional overload of health services. It was also noted that most of the doubts were simple doubts about the first pregnancy, and lack of knowledge about basic legal rights. As future professionals, it is essential to understand the concepts of vulnerability that pregnant women face in the stages of motherhood. In this way, we can play a fundamental role in promoting more respectful and empathetic obstetric care, contributing to a more comprehensive and patient-centered healthcare system.
