This dissertation presents a study on Mathematical Modeling, with particular em phasis on its contribution to Mathematics teaching in Basic Education. Initially, the main theoretical foundations of Mathematical Modeling are discussed, highlighting its stages, characteristics, and potential to support the teaching and learning process. Subsequently, mathematical models from different fields are presented to illustrate var ious ways of applying Mathematical Modeling in Mathematics education, with special emphasis on models related to agriculture. As part of this research, an educational resource is proposed in the form of a didactic sequence designed for the final years of Elementary Education, based on the reality of family farming. The proposed activity develops a mathematical model capable of estimating bean production in agricultural areas using the digital tool Google Earth. The results indicate that Mathematical Modeling can serve as an effective ally for teachers by promoting more meaningful learning experiences. Furthermore, this work aims to provide guidance and support for educators interested in incorporating Mathematical Modeling into their Mathematics classes.pt_BR
