Línguas emergentes de sinais: um estudo de caso com surdos em Barra de Santana/PB.

Abstract

This is a research that aims to observe and investigate how the communication and interaction between deaf people and the hearing community where they live, and who are not Libras users, takes place. The concern of this research comes from the knowledge of the use of Libras, as an official language by law of the deaf community in Brazil, and knowing the existence of a group of deaf people who do not know this language, how would the communication between them and the hearing community where are inserted. In the case of the theoretical basis Vilhalva (2009), Law 10.436/2002, Decree 5.626/2005, Quadros (2019), Fusellier (2015) among other researchers who dialogue with the law and linguistic recognition of emerging sign languages existing in Brazil, serving as a guidelines for future studies. Being a qualitative research, guided by a field study. Data collection was initially carried out with the video recording of the brothers performing 20 previously chosen signs of their daily use, later the videos were analyzed, a screen print was taken and the emerging signs were compared, as well as with the same signs in Libras, with the purpose of showing the similarities and differences in the execution of the signs, in order to provoke a discussion, future research for a possible proof of the existence of an emerging language in that locality in Paraíba. First, it is an expansion of studies on emerging sign languages. Second, dealing methodologically with the recording of research data. Third, presentation of data analysis, emerging signs used by two deaf brothers from this community and active subjects of this research, comparing these signs between them and with the same signs in Libras. Finally, the investigation makes clear the strong possibility of the existence of an emerging language in that locality.
