Entre identidades e narrativas: a representação de povos originários em Frozen 2 e outras animações da Disney.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representations of indigenous peoples in Disney animations from different periods, with a special focus on Frozen 2 (2019), understanding the changes that have occurred in these forms of representation over time, observing how social, economic, and political aspects have interfered in the transformation of the way indigenous peoples have come to be represented. The methodology used was film analysis and bibliographic consultation of texts by other authors who had already addressed the theme from their respective perspectives. The concepts of representation, identity, culture, national narrative, and place of speech, discussed by authors Sandra Pesavento (2006), Henrique Codato (2010), Stuart Hall (1992), and Grada Kilomba (2008), respectively, were used. Preliminary results indicate that the historical transformations undergone by society directly influenced changes in the way indigenous peoples came to be represented in Disney animations.
